COMMENTS:
At Zambo I was the NCO In Charge, MAG-32 Photo Lab, however, I flew a number of combat msns (vertical camera from amidship) w/611,w/Major Horne (of Philadelphia, PA), Geo (Bud) Barnett, & others. Also flew in the SBD's oblique. While on PBJ msns as cameraman was the tail gunner or waist gunner depending on my aircrew role. After Zambo went to Tsingtao, China & flew with sqds atched to MAG-32. My seabag with my flt record book never arrived at Miramar w/me in Apr46. Discharged as Staff Sergeant, at NTC Bainbridge, MD, 30May46. Enl USMCR, Boston, MA 29Aug46 for four years. Mobilized for Korea, however was USAF Aviation Cadet, multi-eng, single eng, jet & helicopter plt
Went to Korea as Special Forces Heli Plt(Black Operations reporting to 5th Air Force Director of Intell. Flew some Rescue Msns, lots of night & Instrument Met Bud Barnett at 1st MARDIV Post Office, K-16 & then again at the Las Vegas Reunion. If anyone recalls having flown w/me at Zambo - please contact me. Was on the Moret ramp the day Joe E. Brown flew w/ LCol Sarles - that day I was flying w/Major Horne. Finished USAF as Colonel. As a civilian test pilot flew USMC Helos at Tustin, El Toro & Jacksonville, NC. Also flew USN, USCG & US Army helos & fixed wing acft. I was busy since Plt 948, Parris Island Dec43-Feb44 then aerial, ground & motion picture school at NAS Pensacola, Fla.

Robert, this is great! At last, all the Marine Bombing Squadrons' history, contributions, and sacrifices during their short WWII existence can be documented. I look forward to contributing to VMB 611's history in memory of my father and all the members of the squadron.
